Uatu the Watcher.

I sketched out a predecessor to this particular piece that, while irreverent (not to mention funny enough to make me laugh out loud), was not in the best taste. It wasn't explicit, but age has taught me the value of keeping my trap, and sometimes my sketchbook, shut because you never know who may be watching. But speaking of watching, you can use your imagination as to what it is I might've drawn.

Regardless, this was a fun little 5x7. While drawing it though, I realized that in possibly the entire realm of fiction any character or group of characters known as the Watchers always interferes. For any future fiction, lets come up with some new names, shall we?

Artists! Save your Spines!

If you pay attention to only one of my blog posts, or if you want to make it to middle or even old age (whichever is applicable) without walking like Dr. Frankensteins assistant, follow the colorful picture above. Spending anywhere from 8 to 16 hours a day chained to an artists table takes its toll, even if you're like me and spend half of it drawing while standing. But there are ways to cheat the inevitable spinal warping.

Try to roll it up 20-30 times, 3 times a day (you'll get there).

You don't need a gym or a fitness trainer or even me telling you how to do it. Just save your spine and do it. Please. I'd prefer to see you wheelchair-less at SDCC 2045.

Dr. Doom!

I did a head sketch of Big Vic at Heroes Con and have been meaning to do a full size illo for a few weeks. This is your result. Bow before Doom!

Also.... Doombots!

Iron Man vs. Ultron!

I've been meaning to have another go at one of the classic Iron Man suits for a while, and tonight was a good night. Enjoy.

And some pencils for the process junkies. About as tight as you'll ever see mine, I assure you.

Classic X-men.

Not sure why, but I've been on a bit of an X-kick lately. I roughed this out over the weekend, but finally had a chance to slap some ink on it tonight. While I have other X-characters that I'm fond of, this was far and away my favorite X-Men roster throughout the years and probably still is.

If it doesn't quite reach the bar I set with my X-men/Pixar mashup, my apologies.

The Phoenix!

Occasionally I realize that I haven't drawn a real superheroine in some time. Truth be told, mostly thats because I rarely find any of them that compelling. Fortunately, there are a few worth drawing, and this particular design is one of my favorites. And lookie here, I drew a Marvel heroine without tracing a photograph off the cover of Penthouse. Whatta ya know, it can be done!

P.S. I loathe the spelling of the word "phoenix". It irks me greatly.

2001: A Space Odyssey, in Brilliant Hi-Fi Technicolor.

Adam Guzowski takes an awesome crack at coloring my 2001 experiment from a few weeks ago. Drop by his blog and let him know how awesome it looks!

Riddle me this....

Who is the only credible Bat-villain I've never drawn? Well, it was the Riddler.

Black Panther.

I'm still not sold on the reasoning behind a cape for a hero who spends a good deal of time in the jungle, but what're ya gonna do?
